Gatefold Cover

When pre- recorded cassettes started being sold I wasn't impressed .Firstly because I had already rerecorded my albums onto cassettes of a far better quality than those used by the music companies at the time. ( yeah, that's why car steroes shredded double albums ) Secondly, where was the cover art?
One of the great pleasures of buying a new LP was the cover art, even better if it was a double gatefold cover.

OK,if you weren't into prog rock, you maybe missed out and have never heard of Roger Dean but everyone knows about Sgt. Pepper.
I still have my postcard from Wish You Were Here somewhere.
So CDs came out and there were a few more inches for artwork but not enough yet,the companies missed a trick. You see we play them on computers and there could be room on them for a glorious piece of cover art you could luck at while you listen.
Now sure sound quality and ease of listening has improved ,and some music videos are beyond brilliant but still now and then I look at my LPs still snugly preserved in the plastic dust covers I bought with them and miss a part of music.
